Leigh Downing is a native of Texas and has lived in Austin since 1991. Her passion is Watsu therapy and Cupping massage. Watsu is a dynamic therapy in which a provider (therapist or practitioner) gently cradles their client in chest-deep warm water while coordinating with the breath and providing massage, stretching and movement. As a Watsu therapist with over 1000 hours of training, Leigh is keenly observant of her client’s breath and pays close attention to any signs of overstimulation or holding. From the first time she received a Watsu session, she knew this was the path she was meant to follow. Leigh has taken every class offered at the School of Shiatsu and Massage in Middletown, California to be certified as a Watsu Therapist. Her additional certifications include Aquatic Bodywork Therapist, Shiatsu Practitioner and Waterdance Practitioner. She is also a Licensed Massage Therapist with certifications in Cupping Therapy, Colorpuncture and Orthobionomy.
Before following her path to Watsu and Massage, Leigh managed the Acupuncture Medical Centre for 18 years and had a 12 year career as a DJ. She also works part time for an online cultural art magazine managing their social media sites. Leigh has been offering Watsu and massage at Sol for the past 5 years.
“When you experience Aquatic Bodywork therapy, you will giving yourself a profound gift of blissful relaxation and healing.” ~ Leigh
